2025 Mayor’s Christmas Tree Ornament Design Revealed

Made from the wood of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree,
ornament proceeds benefit Kansas City community during the holiday season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 12025) — For the 39th year, Crown Center will sell Hallmark-designed wooden Christmas ornaments to benefit the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund. Proceeds from the ornament sales benefit the fund that assists thousands of Kansas City people in need each holiday season.

The 2025 ornament, crafted from the wood of the 2024 Mayor’s Christmas Tree that stood on Crown Center Square, is called
Sweet Snowman.” This limited-edition ornament, designed by Hallmark artist Sheyda Best, is the latest in the collectible series and celebrates the Hallmark Christmas Experience at Crown Center, taking place on weekends from Nov. 28 through Dec. 21, 2025.

Due to record-breaking sales of last year’s ornament during the Hallmark Christmas Experience, Crown Center donated more than $50,000 to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund in July.

The 2025 Mayor’s Christmas Tree Ornament design features a smiling snowman in a top hat, holding a stack of wrapped gifts. The design is painted in colors of white, red, green and black on the natural wood background.

“The Mayor’s Christmas Tree Ornament is a uniquely Kansas City tradition, and it is a symbol of the generous spirit of giving within our community,” said Stacey Paine, president of Crown Center Redevelopment Corporation. “We look forward to welcoming people from all over the world to the Hallmark Christmas Experience at Crown Center again, and this ornament gives visitors a way to take a piece of Crown Center home with them and share in our hometown spirit.”

Ornaments Will Go On Sale Nov. 28

The 2025 Mayor’s Christmas Tree Ornament will be available for sale starting Friday, Nov. 28, for $19.95, plus tax. Proceeds from the sale of the limited-quantity ornament benefit the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, which helps fellow Kansas Citians in need celebrate the holiday season.

BACKGROUND

History of the Charity

The Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund is a charitable association established in 1908 with a mission to provide assistance to the less fortunate in Kansas City during the holiday season. The fund helps several thousand people each holiday season and assists senior citizens, people with disabilities, and underprivileged children throughout the city. Support the fund by purchasing the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Ornament or by making a donation.

History of the Ornament

Since 1981, Crown Center has been selling commemorative ornaments to raise money for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund. The first six ornaments (1981 through 1986) were ornaments from the Hallmark ornament line, revised as limited editions with the Mayor’s Christmas Tree inscription. Since 1987 (for 39 years), the Mayor’s Christmas Tree ornament has been an original creation, designed by Hallmark artists and creative staff and made from the wood of the previous year’s Mayor’s Christmas Tree.

History of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree

Since 1973, Crown Center has hosted the Mayor’s Christmas Tree on Crown Center Square as a symbol of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund. The 100-foot-tall Mayor’s Christmas Tree – always one of the tallest in the nation – is the centerpiece of holiday celebrations at Crown Center. The tree, which is provided by Cascade Timber Consulting of Sweet Home, Oregon, will arrive in Kansas City this year after a 2,000-mile journey through six states on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025.
